MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
The Magic Keyboard returned to the Pro with a larger 16-inch screen.
Overview
The 16-inch MacBook Pro of 2019 answered the criticism of the butterfly keyboard with a redesigned Magic Keyboard using scissor switches and a real Escape key alongside the Touch Bar. The 16-inch Retina display offered 3072 by 1920 pixels in a body only slightly larger than the old 15-inch.
A six-core Core i7 or eight-core Core i9 chip, AMD Radeon Pro 5000M graphics, up to 64 GB of memory and 8 TB of storage made it the most capable Mac notebook yet. A 100-watt-hour battery, the largest allowed on a plane, powered it.
Its improved speakers and three-mic array impressed reviewers, and the thicker design allowed a better cooling system.
Why it mattered
Fixed the keyboard and set up the pro laptop for the final stretch of the Intel era.
