MacBook Pro (14-inch, M5 Pro / M5 Max, 2026)
Two-die Fusion Architecture chips come to the 14-inch Pro.
Overview
The M5 Pro and M5 Max are built on what Apple calls Fusion Architecture, joining two silicon dies into a single chip. They offer up to 18 CPU cores, made of six super cores and twelve performance cores, with GPU options up to 40 cores and a Neural Accelerator in each one.
M5 Pro supports up to 64 GB of memory at 307 GB/s, and M5 Max up to 128 GB at 614 GB/s. Storage starts at 1 TB for the Pro and 2 TB for the Max, with reading and writing speeds up to 14.5 GB/s.
The design is unchanged, with three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC slot, MagSafe 3 and a XDR display. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 come from the N1 chip, and it comes in Space Black or Silver.
Why it mattered
Introduced a chiplet-style Apple silicon design to the Mac and raised the baseline storage of the pro line.
