MacBook Air (13-inch, M3, 2024)
M3 speeds and dual-display support for the 13-inch Air.
Overview
The M3 update left the design of the 2022 Air untouched but changed the internals. The M3 chip offered an eight-core CPU and up to a ten-core GPU with ray tracing, and Apple claimed it ran up to 60 percent faster than the M1 Air.
It added Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and the ability to drive two external displays when the lid is closed. A new Midnight finish used an anti-fingerprint coating, and memory configurations reached 24 GB.
Battery life stayed at up to 18 hours, and the earlier M2 Air continued as a cheaper model at 999 dollars for a time. It was replaced by the M4 version a year later.
Why it mattered
Put the M3 generation into the best-selling Mac laptop and added support for two external displays.
