Verizon has put a price on iPhone Handoff, the iOS 27 feature that lets one phone number be shared across two iPhones. In an announcement tied to the iPhone Duo, the carrier said the feature will be available for $10 per month on compatible iPhone models running iOS 27. That is double what T-Mobile charges, according to reporting from 9to5Mac and MacRumors.

What iPhone Handoff does

Apple introduced the feature with iOS 27 and detailed it at its September event. It allows a single number to live on two iPhones, with the user switching which device is active. Only one iPhone can use the number at a time. Verizon says customers will be able to change the active device whenever they like while keeping full 5G access.

Verizon's terms

Verizon's announcement names the iPhone Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro as examples of compatible models and says support is "coming soon", without a firm date. Apple previously said Verizon would adopt the feature before the end of 2026, so the carrier's timing is consistent with that earlier statement.

How other carriers compare

According to the reports, T-Mobile in the United States already supports iPhone Handoff at $5 per month. AT&T, by contrast, recently indicated it has no imminent plans to support the feature; when CNET asked last month, the carrier pointed to its existing eSIM activation and transfer tools instead.

Outside the US, Deutsche Telekom in Germany offers it through its MultiSIM service at 6.95 euros per month, though it is free on some higher-tier plans. MacRumors reports that UK carrier EE says it will support the feature soon, with some customers paying 5 pounds per month and Works Plus customers getting it at no charge. 9to5Mac adds that Apple has said EE should be on board before the end of 2026.

Why it matters

The feature is aimed at people who carry more than one iPhone, such as owners of a new iPhone Duo who also keep a second device. Carrier fees are the main practical hurdle: the same capability now costs nothing extra on some European plans, $5 on T-Mobile and $10 on Verizon. Apple has not announced any pricing of its own, since the charges are set by each carrier.

Customers considering the iPhone Duo or iPhone 18 Pro with Verizon should check the carrier's plan details once the service goes live, as the fee and eligibility terms are Verizon's to set. Apple maintains a support page describing how iPhone Handoff works.
