Apple's USB-C Apple Pencil is set to work with the iPhone Duo once iOS 27.2 arrives, according to a report from MacRumors.
MacRumors says Creative Strategies analyst Max Weinbach posted on X that Pencil support switched on for his iPhone Duo after he installed the iOS 27.2 release candidate. The report says the USB-C Apple Pencil can draw, annotate and scroll in supported apps on both of the device's displays, the inner foldable panel and the outer screen.
What is and is not confirmed
The finding rests on one analyst testing one device. MacRumors did not cite an Apple statement, support document or official feature list, and it does not say which apps will work with the stylus. Only the USB-C Apple Pencil is mentioned, and the report does not address other Pencil generations or how the experience differs between the two displays.
Apple has not publicly described Pencil support for the iPhone Duo in the material cited by the report, so for now it should be treated as an early hands-on observation rather than a confirmed feature.
Timing
Apple seeded the iOS 27.2 release candidate to developers on October 19. MacRumors says the update is expected to reach the public next week, although Apple has not confirmed a date. The iPhone Duo itself goes on sale on October 23, which means buyers could see the update shortly after launch if that timing holds.
Why it matters
Stylus input has long been a signature of Apple's iPad lineup. A Pencil-compatible foldable iPhone would extend that workflow to a pocketable device, particularly for note-taking, markup and sketching on the larger inner display. Whether Apple positions it as a headline feature or a minor addition will likely become clearer once the release notes for iOS 27.2 are published.
Cupertino News will update this story if Apple confirms Pencil support or details which apps and Pencil models are compatible.
