Apple has expanded its Self Service Repair program to cover the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the newest Mac mini and Mac Studio models, according to reports from 9to5Mac and MacRumors published on October 20.
What is covered
The program lets customers order genuine Apple parts and tools and then follow Apple's official repair manuals at home. The new listings reach customers in the United States, Canada and Europe, MacRumors reports, though neither outlet named the individual European countries.
For the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, 9to5Mac says the store now offers parts including the display, battery, back glass, enclosure, rear and front cameras, logic board, speakers, microphone, SIM tray and Taptic Engine.
The Mac Studio with M5 Max or M5 Ultra chips has a longer parts list, according to the same report: Thunderbolt and USB-C ports, fans, speakers, SSD modules, logic boards and power supplies. The new Mac mini, described as available with an M6 or M5 Pro chip, has a shorter list that includes fans, speakers, logic boards, batteries and power supplies.
Tools and pricing
Customers can buy the tools Apple uses for these repairs, either with a parts order or separately. 9to5Mac lists adhesive cutters, suction cups, nylon probes, adhesive removal tools, torque drivers and screws.
The one price the outlet cites is for the iPhone 18 Pro camera, which costs $249, the same as on last year's models. Returning the original part earns a $59.76 credit, bringing the effective cost down to $189.24, according to 9to5Mac. Pricing for other parts was not detailed in the reports.
Timing
The expansion arrived the same day Apple announced new U.S. suppliers for components used in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo. Neither report includes a statement from Apple about the repair update, and MacRumors notes that it was working from 9to5Mac's findings rather than a press release. The parts and manuals can be viewed on Apple's Self Service Repair store.
Apple has not said whether the iPhone Duo, which goes on sale October 23, will be added to the program.
