Apple Music for Android has received a visual overhaul with version 7.0, which is now rolling out through the Google Play Store, according to 9to5Google. The release follows roughly a month of beta testing and moves the app's version number in line with iOS 27, matching Apple Music's new numbering scheme.
A new look on Android
The most visible change is the app icon. Instead of a white note on a red tile, the music note is now drawn in black or white to suit the device's theme. The accent color used throughout the app has also shifted to blue, replacing the familiar red.
Navigation has been reworked as well. A floating, slightly translucent bar now sits at the bottom of the screen, and the mini-player is no longer attached to it. 9to5Google notes that, unlike on iOS, the bar does not shrink as the user scrolls. The app now draws edge to edge behind Android's status and navigation bars.
Layout and library tweaks
At the top of each screen, the page title and overflow menu share a single line. The three-dot icons are no longer red and now sit inside circular containers. In the Library tab, the "Edit Pins" and "Edit Categories" options have moved into the three-dot menu.
Artist pages have been redesigned too. Their background is now tinted from the cover artwork, a larger play button is featured, and the share button has moved to the top right. The info page is said to match the version on iOS. Settings have been reorganized into clearer groups, while the Now Playing screen is reported to have no major changes.
Why it matters
The update brings the Android app closer to the Liquid Glass design language Apple introduced across its platforms, even if some behaviors differ from the iPhone version. Apple Music is one of the few Apple apps available on Google's platform, so changes to its design are a useful signal of how Apple intends to keep its services consistent across ecosystems.
The details here come from 9to5Google's report; Apple has not, to our knowledge, published a separate announcement on the update. Availability may vary by region as the rollout continues.
