Apple has not yet released a first beta of iOS 27.3, but 9to5Mac's Ryan Christoffel expects one within days, with Monday, November 2 described as the likely date. The timing comes in an article published October 29, after the release of iOS 27.2 earlier this week.

Why the numbering looks odd

According to 9to5Mac, iOS 27.1 shipped only for the iPhone Duo, which shifts Apple's usual numbering by one step. That makes iOS 27.3 the next update for the wider iPhone lineup after iOS 27.2, which the site says brought new features to Messages, Siri AI and Photos, along with an Apple Music rebrand.

When it could ship

9to5Mac's estimate for the public release is mid-December. The outlet bases that on the pattern of earlier x.2 releases: iOS 26.2 arrived on December 12, while iOS 18.2 and iOS 17.2 both landed on December 11. The article notes that Apple tends to ship its last major update of the year with a buffer before the holiday break. Apple has not announced a date for either the beta or the final version, so these dates are an outlet's expectation rather than a commitment.

What to expect

The article says the update should at a minimum add more languages for Siri AI, which Apple announced this week, and bring back the all-new Health app. Christoffel writes that more will become clear once a beta is available. Features beyond those two are not confirmed.

Developers and public beta testers should watch Apple's developer site and the Software Update settings for the first build. Apple usually seeds betas to registered developers first, with a public beta following shortly afterwards.

What we don't know yet

Apple has not said which iPhone models will get every feature in iOS 27.3, nor whether the iPhone Duo will see anything specific in the update. We will update coverage when the first beta and its release notes appear.
