MacBook Neo
A colorful 13-inch Mac laptop powered by an iPhone-class chip.
Overview
MacBook Neo brought the MacBook name back to the entry level in March 2026 at 599 dollars, or 499 for education. Instead of an M-series chip it runs the A18 Pro with a six-core CPU and five-core GPU, together with 8 GB of unified memory and 256 or 512 GB of storage.
The 13-inch Liquid Retina display has 2408 by 1506 pixels, an anti-reflective coating and roughly 500 nits of brightness, but no ProMotion. Two USB-C ports handle charging and data, there is a headphone jack, and the keyboard has no backlight. Touch ID is only on the 699-dollar model.
It weighs about 2.7 pounds and comes in Silver, Blush, Citrus and Indigo, aiming at students and first-time Mac buyers.
Why it mattered
Pushed Mac laptop pricing below 600 dollars for the first time and put an A-series chip in a Mac.
