iMac 24-inch (M4)
M4, 16 GB of memory and a nano-texture glass option.
Overview
The M4 iMac was announced on the first day of a week of Mac launches. The new chip offered an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU in the base model, with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU in the higher models, plus a 16-core Neural Engine to drive Apple Intelligence features.
Memory started at 16 GB and could rise to 32 GB. The 12-megapixel Center Stage camera followed the user around the frame and could show a view of the desk, and the 4.5K display was available with an optional nano-texture matte finish for the first time on the iMac.
Thunderbolt 4 replaced the earlier Thunderbolt 3 ports, the accessories moved to USB-C charging, and the colors stayed at seven.
Why it mattered
It made 16 GB the baseline and brought Apple Intelligence and a matte display option to the iMac.
