iPhone 17e
The A19 chip, MagSafe and a Dynamic Island for $599.
Overview
The 17e is the lower-cost model of the iPhone 17 generation and the successor to the 16e. It keeps a compact 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED, but now has the Dynamic Island in place of the notch and a front glass layer of Ceramic Shield 2.
Inside is the standard A19 chip with a four-core GPU, Apple's C1X modem, and the 48-megapixel Fusion main camera, which also provides a 2x optical-quality crop. Charging got a boost over the 16e: the phone supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at up to 15W, bringing back the magnetic accessory ecosystem the earlier e model lacked.
The starting storage doubled to 256GB, and the price stayed at $599. Colors were black, white and a new Soft Pink. It still uses a 60 Hz display and Wi-Fi 6, which separates it from the standard iPhone 17.
Why it mattered
It restored MagSafe and the Dynamic Island to the entry iPhone while keeping the price at $599.
